Nanoparticulate-based coating to fire protect glass fibre reinforced polyester composite
Résumé
A fire protective coating was developped by combining ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and sepiolite nanoparticles (SP) in Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA). This coating was applied on a glass fibre/polyester composite substrate. Upon heat exposure, a thermal barrier was formed than enables to delay the backside temperature rise. The efficiency of the barrier was attributed to the reactivity between APP and sepiolite and the ability of the layer to reradiate heat.
